Today we read a couple of scenes in Romeo and Juliet and talked about them and what had happened previously. Students worked on common craft videos and will have a vocab quiz on Friday. Common craft videos are due on Friday at the end of the school day.

Students created portfolios online today. All writing will be placed in a folder on googledocs and be used at the end of the semester and throughout the semester to improve on previous writings. Students also worked on research for their common craft videos. Students need to watch and take notes on three short videos at home on commas.

Upcoming Week

This week students will be creating online portfolios for their writing on google docs! This will be part of their final exam grade for second semester. Students will also be working on their common craft videos this week. Students may bring their own devices to class whether they are ipods, ipads, droid devices or smart phones. We will use these to make our videos and work on research for their issue project. Students also need to bring in their $6-$10 for the Hunger Games movie. We have a short fun-filled week ahead!

HUNGER GAMES

March 23! Students will pay Mr. Annen $6 for a ticket to see the movie on this evening at 5 p.m. at Celebration Cinema North. If students want group concessions, it will cost $10 for the movie and the concession. All students have said they want to attend so parents need to work on rides and carpooling so that kids are there on time for this special showing the day the movie comes out!

Students learned about their vocabulary words today. We read a couple of scenes of Romeo and Juliet. Finally, we talked about student projects. Students will be creating a video based project that is called Common Craft about an issue they choose that surrounds Romeo and Juliet. Next class students will take a vocabulary quiz and write an essay.

Students read Romeo and Juliet Act 2:2 today in class. Students have several adverb exercises to complete for homework. Pages 28, 29, and 30.

Today students had a chance to conference about their writing. Students are to keep all writings for the semester and will be turning in a portfolio at the end of the semester. I'm hoping for an electronic portfolio. Students also took vocab 11 quiz today. We worked on adverbs online too. I want to get a good feel for how they are working with adverbs in the next class or two so that we can finish them up.

Students looked at some versions of Romeo and Juliet today to get a better idea of the play. We talked about vocabulary today. Students watched some adverb videos and did some practice with them. Students will complete p.27 Adverbs from moodle and study vocab 11 for a quiz next time.
